I don't want to start an argument here but I have alot of mechanical background and I run heavy machinery on construction sites for a living, we always check oil cold even on cars.
It can be done warm just watch you don't get burned on the exhaust shields taking out the stick!
Engine off after 1min with oil warm and bike on jiffy stand per Harley.
Check the oil after the last ride of the day, if it's where you are happy with it, good. Now first thing before the next ride check it cold, using something sharp scribe a mark on your low mark. Then you can check hot or cold. On both of my Dynas oil level cold is 1/2" below full mark, and is good when hot. Know your bike.
ok well i changed the oil and the light went out then i drove for about 10 min so i then changed the sensor and the light is still flickering off and on then it will stay on for a bit then go out then come back on any suggestions

Remove the oil pressure sender. Insert an oil pressure gauge. Find out what the pressure should be...

Good advice here. Either its the switch or the oil pump. The motor will start clacking if the lifters don't get enough oil and they bleed down. If they don't start making noise you're probably getting oil pressure.
As for checking your oil here, the motor will run on just a quart of oil, not enough to even show on the dipstick. These are dry sump motors (no oil in the crankcase.) so literally it will run on one quart. The extra oil in the tank is for cooling these air cooled / oil cooled motors.
