Speedo backlight started flickering last ride..

Default Speedo backlight started flickering last ride..
top says it..

Seems to happen only when the engine runs.. anyone had that problem? maybe a lose ground somewhere?

stock gauge o speedo/tach unit??


dont know about stock unit as i didnt run mine long enough to notice BUT the speedo/tach unit has an eye that detects bright light and turns off back lighting
thought something was wrong with mine last year when I was riding in and out of shade and it kept going on and off

Sorry i dident mention that.. its stock speedo... does that have that eye?

sorry I couldn't tell you as I said I didn't run my stock gauge long enough to notice
if you have an owners manual take a look in the gauges layout section

I thought the same thing about my 2012 Superglide it does that too

Glad you found your problem. I had to take my bike back 3 times (under warranty) to get my speedometer light fixed. Finally had to replace entire unit.

My 2012 FXDC does the same thing. Only during daylight has never done it at night. Can you explain where the loose ground was?

The back light should only work at night, and in dark areas like a garage or heavy shadows. It has a light sensor that turns it on.
