Default Solid Rear Wheel For Dyna

I saw this build a few years ago with a solid rear wheel and always liked it. Recently I saw another FXR with a solid wheel and I'm sold.

Question now is: what wheel will work on my 07 Street Bob? I saw talk of an older 883 Custom XL wheel or a Night Train wheel? Someone said Fat Boy but then later got trumped as the pulley and rotor don't line up right.

So again, what wheel (and tire) would fit back there? Close to stock or I'm currently running a 13 Spoke mag with a slightly smaller tire, which is fine.

If you don't mind a 16" wheel and want one that bolts up with no changes - Fat Bob

+1

I bought a Fat Bob rear wheel for this exact purpose. However, because we both have 07's it will require a few extra parts to make the swap. I plan on converting to the 08 caliper (two pieces instead of our one piece design), axle, and spacers. I'm currently running a 16" spoke wheel on the 07 set-up. Getting the wheel off and on is a huge pain with the one piece caliper design. I have to leave the rotor loose during assembly then torque the rotor bolts after everything is assembled. Not ideal but it works.

I plan on making the swap when my rear tire wears out. The fat bob wheel will allow you to run a 180/65-16 as well which fits fine under the rear fender as long as you tuck your signal wires away properly. You can also run the Deuce rear wheel which is a direct swap. 128auto is running one on his bike with a spoke wheel up front.

Stock fat bob wheels can be had for pretty cheap on ebay.

Deuce "take off" wheel will not work with out machine work, deuce wheel out of HD catalog will work with correct mounting kit.

I have a Deuce rear wheel in my Glide. It doesn't bolt in but can be made to work without too much hastle. It hasn't required any machining! Rim is 4.5" x 17" and I am using a 160/70 tyre, an easy alternative being a 170/60, if you can make space for it. The Deuce comes with a 1" belt, but I am using a later Touring 1 1/8" belt. All clearances are tight!

So why do some say yes and others say no on direct bolt up for the Deuce wheel?

I don't think any of us has said it is a bolt up! However if your stock wheel is a 4.5 x 17 then it should go straight in. There are not many models that can take the wider tyre.

This might help with that question. http://www.harley-davidson.com/app-c...ts/-J04057.PDF

Look at the differences in the install kits. The specific part number 41174-07, which is the chrome deuce wheel made to fit various models, is a direct fit as long as you buy the right install kit as noted in the instructions. The stock deuce wheels prior to at least 07 don't have the big bore through the wheel like this one does.
