Dealership Rant
I just discovered the "ongoing" problem with the famous shearing muffler bracket bolts. All three were broken. I had no idea this was an issue with the FX line. Apparently everyone else did! I know damn well the salesperson had to be aware this was a problem and that this bike was a victim! Or perhaps I should have done more research? The Dyna had 4 grand showing on the odo, ran beautifully and was super comfortable (ever gone very far on a Forty Eight?) I mean, c'mon. You know they had to know? Well, rather than just 'put a band-aid on" and fix the bolts, I installed the Staggered Short Shots to fix the problem. While I was at it I had the Stage One intake mod done and got a dyno tune. Bike is a monster now!
Guess what? Now I find that there is a problem with the stock tires cupping. Well, I'll be getting new tires in the not too distant future but It doesn't look like I'll be putting the stock meat on again! I guess the previous owner really didn't take as good care of his bikes as I do.
Point I'm trying to make is that it seems that the dealership would be open and honest or at the very least repair any know problem with a used bike. I guess honesty is non existent when it comes to making a buck. Sorry, I'm not buying the "perhaps they didn't know" thing. I thought the trade ins had to be gone over with a fine tooth comb prior to reselling. Guess that was wrong!
Well, I really like the Bike I got. And now that the biggest problem is overcome It'll just get better and better. While I've owned a couple of sportsters, this is the first Dyna I've owned so be gentle with me.....

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
When I bought my used Dyna from an independent, I found out on the ride home that the front brake light switch didn't work, which was somewhat dangerous in the heavy traffic. But I didn't even bother returning to ask them to repair it because I knew they wouldn't have the part in stock. I went the next day to the local dealership, bought the manuals and $50 in parts to fix it myself. I worked a fair trade-in so I was and remain satisfied about the transaction. In fact, I'll be returning to that independent to buy my next motorcycle.
Regarding your Sporty, I think we've all been there. Sporty's are the most traded in Harley, if not the most traded in bike from any brand. And accessories are not worth anything in resale. On my last three bikes, the only money I'ver lost while trading was on accessories. Unfortunately, the money most of us spend on Harley accessories is substantial.
Enjoy the new bike, I prefer my current FXDL to the XL1200R I owned a few years ago.
It's a good looking scoot. Fix the few problems and enjoy it.
