Question Battery question...

Will anyone know how long a new freshly charged battery last if only engine led accent lights are hooked up to it? The company for the led's said only 3 amps come from the lights. The bike show will be indoors and one of the rules is that the battery has to be disconnected. But I can run alternative power. I was wondering if a battery tender will work connected to the battery! Not sure at all. Help or any advice anyone on what I can do?...Thanks for any replies...Ray...

A battery tender will typically not deliver more than 1 amp.

I'm confused when you say the batter must be disconnected, but then you ask about the battery tender connected to the battery. Could you clarify?

The typical Harley battery like the big crank is rated for around 26amp hours. So, if the battery is fully charged, and in good condition you could run 3amps from it for 8.7 hours. But, standard batteries do not like to be fully discharged more than a few times.

What would work would be to get a battery charger rated for 5amps. remove or disconnect the battery as the show requires. Connect the battery charger to the wires that previously connected to the battery, and wrap them with tape to prevent shorting. I would also suggest pulling all the fuses except for the ones that are for the lights you want to run.

Sorry for the confusion. I should of said with the battery out of the bike to use the tender. Thank You so much for the info. Really helped out my issue. Thanks again and sorry for the confusion...Ray...
