Gone Thru my 3rd Coil!

'95 stock factory Evo motor mounted in an early frame. When I first got the bike, coil failed. Put in a new dual fire coil. Good. Rewired the bike. Good Within a few rides, coil failed. One hole gone, dead as I remember. Bought a new Andrews red coil. Installed it good. Bought this motor, different electronic ignition, new, and used the 3 ohm Andrews coil. All good until 2 weeks ago rode about ten miles. Stared to get a backfire. at idle. Made it home. Today. New plugs, cleaned e ignition components, drained and changed gas, cleaned jets, fired up great. Rode for 8 miles to test. When I returned, misfire, just like before. So that's the 3rd coil. I ordered a 5 ohm and I have a points setup here on the table. Going to install it just for kicks. I have never had 3 coils go in such a short time. Can't figure why these are failing. Last one, one hole just dead. Anybody had these issues?

Are you getting good grounds from coil to frame to motor? With an earlier frame you might be missing a ground and causing them to burn out. Just throwing an Idea out there.....
