Harley Engine Guard Lights

I have a set of these - http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...nted-fog-lamps and would like to wire them in direct. The relay that comes with the kit keeps getting corroded and consequently makes the lights stop working. With that said, why couldn't I do away with the relay and wire these direct (using the ACC switch)?

Bill, I have had the same lights for about five years now and they work fine. If your relay keeps failing that suggests it is in an exposed position. As for doing away with it those lights take quite a bit of power and it wouldn't be wise IMHO. The relay is there to protect your harness. If you wire through the ACC switch that will be live with all the power going to the lights! Check the location of the relay and see if you can move it to somewhere more friendly for it.

HELLA, and others, also make waterproof relays and connectors if you can't find a more suitable location.
