. Relay Switch
My engine guard fog lights went out the other day and I am finally tracing the problem. Pulled the seat and when I turn the lights on I hear a click in the relay box. I checked the fuse and it is good. Should the relay click or is it toast? When I pulled it apart from wiring connector it had a lot of corrosion on it which I cleaned off and lubed with dialectic grease.

if it don't click then you got problem.
it clicks when you apply current to the coil and the coil closes the contacts.
You could have a bad switch that is turning the lights on when you don't want it too.
a shorted wire powering up the lights.
Or the relay could be closing when it's not supposed to causing the lights to turn on. That could be a bad relay or a wire BEFORE it has shorted the relay to power.
You need your service manual and the diagrams in back, and the electrical manual for the bike.

ChooChoo is correct; the click is the relay operating; no click no relay. IIRC there is a fuse attached to the relay; check it; also check for frayed wires near the relaythat may have shorted the circuit causing the fuse to blow.
