I have a2003 electric glide when its ideals gauge says 18 but if i take the power lead off battery it dies does anyone know what my problem is its a standard carbed please help me thank you

If your volt meter is reading 18 volts at idle that suggests your regulator is not working correctly. If you look at the Stickies at the top of this section you will find two that give tips on checking your charging system. Use them, don't guess! They will help you identify and confirm the culprit. You will need a multi-meter.
