Springer Classic: Bad ECM? Gauges out, batt draining when off, and other stuff
Howdy all!
I will keep it simple, and bullet-point the issues.
2005 Springer Classic, Carb'd.
Batt drains and if not started every so often kills the cells to unchargeable. I'm on my second battery now, as I thought I had a bad one. The Tender was saying 'bad', now this one is draining.
Speedo needle frozen at 40mph (today lol) sometimes other
Fuel Gauge/Odometer dead, and all gauge lights dead
Turn Signals won't Auto-shutoff
and THIS is the real key I think will give clues:
When ear is placed up to Speedo, a clock-like ticking is going on, about 8 clicks per second. You can only hear it when ear is right on top of it! And all this with ignition and accessories totally off and in key-locked position.
Otherwise, all other functions are normal. When it started doing this last autumn, I had fuel gauge lights, and maybe 4 'flashes' when turned on. Now neither of these occur.
ANY suggestions or help from these clues would be hugely appreciated. Someone suggested a dirty speed-sensor on top of primary. The cable mounts on top externally, took it out and cleaned it. Seemed to be fine, that's not the problem...
