Default Molex Pin Removing Tool Question

Getting ready to do a another handlebar swap on my 12 FLHTCU and was thinking of buying the little Molex pin removing tool. Last time I used a paperclip and it was a little bit of a struggle and hassle. Since I have some time before I start, I thought about ordering one of those pin removing tools that looks like a really small punch.

Has anyone used one of these? Any suggestions for using anything else that might work better than a paperclip?

Thanks

In my years in avionics, I have used many different types and styles of connector contact removal and insertion tools and they ALWAYS work better than a paper clip/jewlers screwdriver/T-pin. You can never go wrong using the right tool for the job.

If you're talking about amp connectors I use a leather sewing needle.

Or a eye glasses repair kit contains a very small flat head screwdriver. Works well

I have the pin removal tool and if you plan on using it more than once it will pay for itself!

I struggled with getting the wires out of the housing to the point where I cut the wires off and then soldered them after I got them through the bars.
Then I figured out that I was doing two things wrong:
1 I wasn't keeping the plate inside the socket pulled out and
2 I needed more hands: one to keep the inside plate extended, another to hold the socket securely, another to push the heavy gauge paperclip into each pin hole to press the tab, and another to pull on the wire.

Here's a pic of how I did it and went smooth as butter once I got it set up.

Hope this helps:
You can see the shrink tubing on where I had previously cut and soldered each wire. HA! no more:
