Default LED light mirror install wiring question

Hi all,

First time posting. Thanks in advance for help.

I am installing the LED mirrors on my Blackline Softail. I plugged them in and no lights.

In my model bike, there is an open connector under the tank. Following the instructions, I plugged one side of each y adapter into a six prong socket, and the other side of each y adapter into a six prong plug. I tried to follow the picture, but it was less than clear as to which side of the y adapter went into the socket, and which into the plug. By the way, the socket never doe get connected with anything. It just seems to be a way to get the wires organized for storage.

Can anyone shed light into exactly how the y adapters are connected, and what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks much,

Bill

LED lights are positive and negative specific unlike regular light bulbs. Try reversing the leads going to them.

Thanks madsonp. I tried reversing the leads from the mirror to the y adapter and no change. Does that mean I need to reverse the y adapters themselves? Appreciate the help.

Perhaps a stupid question: do these mirrors only light up after the engine is started? I have reconfigured the leads every which way and do not see a flicker. I wanted to confirm the lights are working before putting my tank back on, reconnecting fuel, and starting the engine. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldn't think it would make a difference if the engine is running or not as long as the the main switch is on and the handle bar switch is on run. I suggest you get a multimeter and test each pin in the harness for voltage and take it from there.

Got it figured out. Some of the wires had pulled loose from the unused socket and were causing a short. Working now. Thanks for the help.
