Engine light stays on after ape install.
Installed 10 inch mini apes on 2013 softail slim. I had to replace one 4 pin molex connector(female) and one of the pins because the pin came off of the orange/white wire from the switch housing. I also added the HD wiring harness extentions. Once I got everything put back together the bike would not start. 5 minutes later I pushed the bike back in the garage and it cranked right up. The main problem is that the engine light stays on and the alarm system light came on as well( Even though I don't have an alarm)
Where should I start with trying to get the engine light to turn off. I can't understand why it would be on. Could there be a computer issue? I did disconnect the battery when I did the install. (Any suggestions?)

The red key light is used to indicate two different situations:
1. Security System Status
2. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Status
If you do not have a security system then the ECM is probably throwing a DTC.
Check to see if any codes are present:
If found, troubleshoot the code:
Harley Diagnostic Trouble Codes
You either did not rewire everything right or you have bad connections. Check the DTC error and go from there.

Update
Drove the bike around the corner for a test ride and here are my findings. All of the electrical(horn, high beam, turn signals, etc...) appears to be in working order. The engine light and alarm light comes on and goes off every 2-3 minutes. I did discover why the bike wouldn't start last night. It will only start in neutral. Before the bar install it would start in neutral and in gear. Will try in pull the codes this evening.
