My speedometer on my 2002 FLHR has been acting erratically.Bounces from zero to actual speed and then drops down to zero. When I start the bike cold and ride for 15-20 minutes it works fine, then acts up then stops completely.I was told
to remove the speed sensor, clean it off and then re-install.I did that but it didn't change a thing. Is there a way to check to see if the sensor is bad or not?I've noticed that my directionals do not self- cancel anymore.Any direction appreciated!!
Most likely you have to replace the speed sensor. Cleaning it off doesn't always work. As for the turn signals, the TSSM needs info from the speedometer/speed sensor to cancel the turn signals. I assume that your bike is carbed since the fuel injection also gets info from the speed sensor. Also cruise control will not work without speed info.
