Default Left side hand controls dead

so i swapped out different apes, checked that i had power to everything and that lights worked before i started bolting anything back together. only thing i couldnt check was brake lights.
get the bars all situated...no brake lights..or so i thought...well after some reading i took my pick and stuck it in the brake slot and pressed the button...ah...brake lights were already on. so i loosened the
screws to the brake lever and forced it closer to the master and we have brake lights. now for the dishearting part of the story...and forehead smacking as well.

in between figuring out the brake issue I was thinking it was the single wire from the throttle control side. for some reason...i unplugged this wire while sitting on the bike with it running...(i dug it back out of the frame) this was the point where the check engine light came on...and well...as i found out the left hand side went dead. I pulled the fuse cover ...( 3 fuses)..all looked good though i should have swapped them.
i cant do a tssm check because the odometer reset is on the left control and it seems dead.

i read in one other forum about some one with a dead left control and it was a warranty issue with the control board?...im guessing that is what all the switches are connected to in the housing?.... could just unplugging that single wire while the bike was running have fried the left side control housing?...seems odd to me...

any help appreciated...
also this is on my 2012 wide glide

The single wire in the RHCM is the redundant kill switch wire and has nothing to do with the LHCM. Does anything on the left work? Most common is the trip or clutch switch to fail!

It's odd because the left side was fine, the only issue I had was the brake lights. But then about the time I fired it up the side failed I believe. Thinking back I had forgot to hook the fuel line back up, maybe that triggered the check engine. I know I have the security light on, and no horn, high beam, left turn, or odometer button. Couldn't get into read codes either which I have done before. Never actually mover the bike, just started it.

Also everything not isolated to the left control seems to work.... hazards, brake and tail lights.

hey hog-doc. while you didnt say much what you did say worked. After I pulled my thoughts from that wire i got to retracing things in my head. I figured it was either under the seat or when i was moving the tank around to line it up. funny thing is it wasnt either of those nor was the control wires pinched.

I ended up playing with the four prong molex for that side (again).. and it wasnt staying plugged in tight enough for some reason. the wires themselves were locked into place. then i remembered that when plugged it in the first time i noticed the orange seal ring was gone from the bottom of the molex, i was going to pick one up later. anyway i sliced some thing pieces of black tape and wrapped around it and that did did the trick.
