Im waiting for side mount plate bracket and running light to come in to connect to the wires (see pic) that we're in the old tailight assembly. 2012 Dyna Street Bob, CanBus system. My question is this: I'm not opposed to soldering, but I've done this whole rear fender/light thing without having to cut/remove anything so far just in case I ever decide to go back to stock look. I need to tie into just 1 of the wires in this connector with the bolt plate light. How can I do this without simply removing that wire and soldering it to the light?
The best way to do it is to strip back a section of the insulation, then solder in your lead, and shrink wrap. Or you can try positaps http://www.posi-products.com/posiplug.html
The problem with vampire taps is that they may damage the wire.
I've just learned of posi-taps and connectors. Have you ever used them? If I went that route........would I leave the end of the wire that I'm tapping in to, in the connector, and then tap-in to it a few inches back from where it enters the connector? In other words, I wouldn't have to de-pin the connector at all?
