I am relatively new here myself and am an electrical engineer and was prepared to help. Nevertheless I am also aware of 'Forum Courtesy.'

No introduction, just dive in with questions from the off. One thread not enough for you? The duplicate thread was started yesterday has over 70 views and a couple of suggestions from me. As desperate as you may be for a resolution you too need to provide feedback on the original thread not just simply raise another almost identical thread the next day!

Throw us a bone here...any recent upgrades (bars, lights, electrical)? Turn signal relocation kit? Just stopped working, huh, did you meter the wires to see if there's a break/short somewhere?

He used a 'light tester' of some descript on the other thread together with a suggestion from myself to which there has been no retort? Duff bulbs, high resistance or bad earth/ground from the holder would be my first port of calls to investigate together with a multimeter.

It is a ground in the US. It is earth in the UK. That's why he had a slash in between the two that got lost in your quote.

OK, if that's true. HOw does earth play a role in a battery's power distribution?
This is a very misleading terminology. Only in the UK would a battery NEG be referred to as earth.

It is not the battery negative terminal itself that is classed or labelled as earth return but the path the negative takes through the frame.

I'll not split hairs here and please accept my apologies for any misunderstanding. 'Larsfum' is correct we very rarely if ever use the term 'ground' hence the slash was indeed inserted to prevent any ambiguity.

Where the battery is strapped/tied/linked/connected to the frame this in the UK is regarded as the 'earth return.' At almost any point on the bare metal frame this will provide you with the earth/ground/negative return (or whatever terminology suits) naturally required to make any circuit function. The positive aspect hopefully needs no explanation but is as important as the negative/earth/ground return. It is the positive that is red in colour not the earth as implied in your quote, but I may have misinterpreted your post as you did mine?

I also have an inherent disdain about white wall tyres. Sorry 'tires.' Only having been an electrical engineer for 40 years, 32 of that in the Military I obviously didn't try hard enough, next time I will try to do better. Sorry.

If the bike is newer than 98 it uses a wired ground. If both lights are not working then I say it’s the ground. Follow it back to the connection under the seat.
