Battery

2004 FLHP.
Any thoughts on replacing my 400 CCA battery with a 500 or higher CCA one? I will ride far into the cold here in WI. When I checked prices, I saw the higher CCA was only $60 more.

Go ahead and do it. Bike will only draw as many amps as it needs to start.

The 400 spec is higher than the stock one your bike had when it was new, however no reason why you shouldn't get a 500 one this time. Darned thing should hurl your engine into life every time!

when a battery is cold, it does output less so no issues going up. also, there will be less voltage drop when cranking. i run a modified lawn battery in my 1974ch with electric foot, stock 210 and lawn battery 425. another spec worth looking at is reserve, how long it will hold up under a load with no charge.
