Hey Guys, I have a 2005 electra glide classic not sure what could be causing the problem? But for some reason every time I go to hit the high beams it blows the 15 amp fuse then I have no low or high beams! only my spots?
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Note: I even tried a 20 amp fuse and still the same thing?
A short will blow a much bigger fuse than that! Z has put his finger on the problem, so inspect and rectify. Likelyhood is that once you search the cause will be pretty easy to spot.
Short in the high beam wire, check wires and connections
So here's the rundown when I install a new 15 amp fuse start the bike the headlamp is on as it should be and it will work with the spots on or off as well BUT as soon as I hit the high beams it blows the fuse and I have no low or high beams at all but still have the spots?
I haven't had a chance to pull the fairing off yet to inspect the wires but it just seems weird that its now doing this after all this time and I purchased the bike from my father who was the original owner with only 4k on it and it only has 16k on it now. The only upgrades electrically would be a Power Commander tuner, A full upgraded stereo system, and I bought the HD plug and play module so that I can run my high beams while my spots are on at the same time.
Chaffed wires will happen and when they do it seems that it is a sudden problem, I would check the harness closer to the neck and the tripple trees as that would be the likely spot to have the issue.
