Bike was running great when I turned it off last night. Went to go on a ride first thing in the morning great weather and the speedometer started going crazy. It was showing when you were at 30MPH the speedometer was displaying 80MPH. I kept going this way until it would just peg it self so when you were doing about 50MPH the speedo was buried past 120MPH and then the engine would lose power like there was a speed limiter on the bike.
Any suggestions on what could be the issue - could it be a bad vehicle speed sensor?
I'm having the exact same issue as you. I was actually going to post my issue when I came across yours.
Symptoms:
1. Much higher speeds displayed on speedometer. (ie: parking lot speed would display 100 km/h or higher, etc).
2. Self-cancelling signals stopped working.
3. Odometer seems to increase faster (although it might just be my imagination since I haven't tested on a known distance).
4. No codes.
Unsuccessful Repair:
1. Replaced VSS. Still experiencing exact same issues. Old VSS was clean (zero shavings) upon removal.
I'm at a loss of what part to suspect next. I cleaned VSS connector pins, and speedometer connector pins. Still same result.
Any ideas? ECM?
