I put risers on my 2015 Breakout last night and pinched all the wires to the left controls.
All fuses are good but have no VDC on the red and black wire. Nothing on the left works. Horn, blinker or brights.
I jumped the wires directly to the battery and still nothing worked.
I then learned I have CANBUS system.
How do I reset this? How can I even see the codes if the trip button is dead?
Do I need to "splice" all 4 wires, then reset the canbus to get it to work again?
Help....
Thanks
Update:
I spliced all 4 wires back together. I then tried to get the code. Turn on run switch....
Then hold Trip button Breakout does not have Od reset button..you hold TRIP button to reset) So am I on the correct button??
Turn on ig switch
Release Trip....NOTHING.......no codes
The trip button is one of the wires that was smashed and part of the circuit that the canbus has de-activated.
I have no idea how to reset without the trip button
Not sure what you have going on. Unplug the connector 24 and check that you do have 12V coming to that connector from the Battery fuse. Battery fuse also powers Speedometer.
Vernal: Thanks for trying to help. I have not been able to locate that plug. I am afraid it is under the fuel tank. I was hoping to not have to remove it. What I did instead was make a jumper directly from the battery for the + and the Negative. This still did nothing. My horn or nothing would work.
I have read that the canbus will see a problem, which in this case was a pinched wire. It will see there is a problem and turn off that output instead of blowing a fuse. My question for any canbus experts is does that include the 12 Volts?
The electrical print gives the impression that the 12v and ground should be there all the time. But then how would it be able to protect the circuit and not blow a fuse?
Controller Area Network is used to transfer Data from one module to another and does not control the battery fuse circuit. Change the Battery Fuse and see if you get power.
Sadly all three fuses are good. Same fuse powers many other modules. I am taking it to the local chopper shop in a few min. Will let you know what they find.
I took the bike to a local shop and he found that the plug under the gas tank had the hot wire pulled loose. I am sure I did this when I was splicing the wires.
