I spent two hours on the freeway yesterday, and about half that time, the red warning on the speedometer was lit.
I checked the error codes, and there was only one: b2262, which I understand means the front brake switch stuck.
Can a stuck front brake switch make the red light on the speedo turn on? I assume yes, but want to check with this group. The red light is somewhat alarming, and the front brake switch, though problematic, isn't as bad as the fuel pump cutting out or something else that would cause me fully to break down. So I'm wondering, is the red light certainly caused by the front brake switch, or is it possible I have another more serious problem?

Did ya check to see if the brake light is coming on when it should or staying on when it shouldn't? Do you have a stock brake light? What year is the bike?

Reason: typo
It's a 2012, and I may well have a problem with the brake light sticking. It's a little hard to replicate it in the driveway. Mainly wondering if that issue can cause that red light on the speedo to light up and stay on.
Simple stuff first! Take the rear light cover off, then watch the bare bulb. See if both filaments are coming on. If they are then change the bulb, as they can fail internally but still seem to work. In other words eliminate possible problems at that end. Then turn to inspecting the front brake light switch, taking care as it is easy to damage it, especially when refitting the handlebar switch housing. If your bike has aftermarket handlebars there is a possibility the switch is already damaged.
