LED lights pulsing
What would cause this? I installed a new Voltage regulator this past Spring and I have 13 volts at the battery.
Once it was warmed up and the enricher pushed in (idle to 1000 RPM) the light were fine but resumed pulsing with increased throttle.
I can troubleshoot it myself but thought I'd run it by all of you guys (and gals) first in case anyone's run into this before.
There were some other weird symptoms too but let's start with this.
I checked voltage both
Running (at warm-up idle) 1800 RPM, 14.51 volts. Does it
Warmed -up running 1000 RPM, 13.4 volts. Does it
Engine off but lights on 13.4 volts dropped rapidly to 12.5 volts. Doesn't do it
Engine off, lights off, 12.5-12.75 volts. Doesn't do it
So it doesn't seem to be a voltage or charging issue but it only does it when the engines running.
Could it be the Run/Brake/Turn module, also the BAL doesn't function properly at higher idle and its
connected to the input side of the R/B/T module for the brake and run power/signal.
Next step is to remove it from the equation.
if you look at the schematic, the machine primarily runs off the regulator and the battery making up the short fall. that said, charge the battery and do two back to back load tests, the first is to remove surface charge the second for what is happening. the battery also acts as a giant capacitor and absorbs any ac ripple which you can test for, if excessive can cause what you are seeing.
if you lose a leg on three phase, you still will get charge current but reduced but the side effect is or could be what you are seeing. another issue is shifted magnets on the stator. you could put the system on an oscilloscope and look at the wave form.
