Default 2000 Sportster 883 Not Starting - No Power

Hey all,

Newbie here.

Ive got a Sportster 883 pre-2000 which wont start. No power to lights or ignition etc. Ive had the battery off and charged and working fine.

Checked 4 fuses on the side panel next to the battery, which are fine. But i cant find the 30amp fuse/circuit breaker to see if this needs to be replaced?

Any thoughts and help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Rye

How do you know the battery is good?

Have you load tested it?

How old is the battery?

The battery has charge - sparks coming from it when trying to jump start.

When i've taken the battery off the bike and used a charger, it has charge and has been fully charged.

Batter is only 2 years old, maybe 3.

How does one load test it?

Charge the battery and take it to an auto parts store, they will load test it for free.

Also follow the ground cable from the battery to the chassis ground. That connection often corrodes and prevents power from getting through. Even a weak battery would show SOME signs of trying to start, or at least run the lights.. sounds like a corroded terminal to me.
