Default Heated grips only work part time?

I have a 2012 electra glide limited with original harley heated grips. Last year they started working part time. For the most part would stop working when I really needed them here in Idaho. I took them apart several times, from front cowling and on. Then they would work, then not. I finally just got pissed going into this winter and bought a new set and fixed my problem for sure,NOT. Just wasted over $200.00 and the same problem, worked when they wanted to. Hell, I was beginning to think I was working with a Union. I was using a test light for all my trouble shooting, double grounding and so on. Intermittent problems are always the hardest to isolate and find. That's why I wanted to post my finding to help anyone else to a quick solution. The issue was with the small plug-in connector coming from the main wiring harness that feeds the B+ to your grips. It's under the front cowling and under the radio/cb units. I had tested it several times, yesterday after installing probe in circuit, power on, I kept moving wires. Up down all around, then I got a blip in this connector. It would conduct then stop , the contact points are so small that they are not able to be cleaned, bent or reasonably repaired. I cut it out and hard wired. Problem fixed, but in my haste it still cost me money. So hopefully I can save you shop time and a few dollars.

Default 2015 Limited

My 2015 Limited heated grips never worked right either. They would turn on and then go off. Took into dealer and they pushed electrical connector onto pin inside the handlebar. Fixed it when I tried it. Next time I needed it, came on and went off again, same problem except I was on a trip and didn't want to wast time on it. Long story short, took into dealer three times for exact same thing, and on the fourth time, I basically said, you need to replace them as this is getting old. Whatever you are doing is not fixing them. They said they replaced them and I used them three times so far, and they are now working. Now maybe they just did what you did, and I would not know the difference. They work now, and I'm good with that.

I found this out right away a poor connection on my 2015 ultra fixed it right away about an hour but that's what a good Union does
