Ok, I'm surprised at how much caution is being given in this project. I appreciate the feedback about the brittle wire and caution and maybe I'll just skip it. The only cutting into the harness was for the extensions for apes and it wasn't done poorly. So, maybe it's over kill?
I did install 18" apes on my ultra and had to sauder in extensions. It came out well, no issues, but I understand that's not a lot of experience either. As a result though, I do have ag sauder machine, silver sauder, flux, shrink tubing. I have and can get more of the pins and I have the crimper and I can either reuse the connecters or order new ones from Harley and there Internet.
All that said, sounds like the pros would leave it and just reuse the old harness. Is that correct?
