Default Tssm trouble shooting

Posted in the softail section but didn’t get much help

Hi have a 08 fatboy that’s was sitting for a couple months battery was dead tried to jump it got one crank then nothing. Went to buy a new battery, old one was not holding a charge. Replaced the battery went to turn it on and nothing. lights come on fuel pump primes just doesn’t turn over, no clicking or anything.

replaced both batteries including fob
I took the starter relay off (also replaced) and jumped 30 and 87 got the bike to turn over and run but shut off.

Not sure if it’s the starter button on the bars or what. one thing I did notice is my rear turn signals are not turning on not sure why or how to check why they wouldn’t be working iv been trying to research how to check no luck any advice would be appreciated.

now After reading and researching I believe I fried my tssm is there a way to test it?

Did the starter motor crank the engine over ok?

Did the engine start?

We are not looking over your shoulder here, so we need clear descriptions of what is going on...

On the starter relay: find pin 85, put a jumper wire in there and ground the other end.

Press the start button (ignition switch on), what happens?

Pin 85 on the starter relay is the wire that goes to ground.

But the TSSM controls that ground, it decides whether or not to ground that wire, depending on security system.

You need to put a wire into that connector that will contact the pin, and ground that wire, that will give you a ground no matter what the TSSM says...

Yeah, grounding pin 86 would fry the ignition fuse...

The fact that the starter cranks the engine with pin 85 grounded tells us that for some reason, the TSSM does not want the starter to crank the engine...

I don`t think the TSSM is causing the engine to shut off after it starts, but I am not an expert on fuel injection and electronic controls, not by a long shot....

Also don’t have rear turn signals turning on that’s what made me think it was the tssm any suggestion on where to go now

Exactly what is going on with turn signals, are both front and rear turn signals not working, do they come on steady but not blink, or do they not illuminate at all?

Not talking about the running lights in the front turn signal assembly...

Unplug the connector from the TSSM.

Turn ignition switch on.

Read voltage at pin 7 on the connector, it should read system voltage when the right turn signal button is pressed (White/Brown wire).

Read voltage at pin 8 on the connector, it should read system voltage when the left turn signal button is pressed (White/Violet wire).
