My hi/low switch will not stay in the hi beam position and I bought a new switch/wiring harness from Bikers Choice. I'm trying to figure out where the wires terminate and how to go about installing the new switch. I believe it is under the fuel tank and I was looking for advice on how to go about changing this out. Any advice?
If I remove the tank, I would need to purge the fuel line prior correct? My bike is fuel injected. I'm hoping it is possible to slide the tank back a few inches after removing the tank bolts to reach the harness. I'll be working on it this evening.
Just wrap a rag around the hose end at the quick disconnect, uncouple the connector, done.
You need to get at the electrical connector, unplug it, remove the wires from the old switch in the connector, install the new wires into the connector.
The electrical diagnostics manual is very helpful when doing this type of work, it explains how to disassemble each type of connector on the bike.
