So I have a custom build im doing and the bike will start and almost instantly shut off. I realized the wiring for the oil pressure sensor was messed up. In the schematic it shows it being grounded. Then there’s a wire that goes to the instrument panel (I don’t have one) the wire goes to the oil light and back out as an orange wire that goes to the neutral light and the fuel gauge. And then to a fuse. How can I wire this so that it doesn’t blow the fuse and is this the reason my bike starts and shuts off right away?
The Orange wire is hot. The second wire attaches to the switch for ground, usually it’s on the oil pump near the cam chest.
And no, this isn’t why your bike immediately shuts off
helps to know what machine? custom as from ground up or eye candy on a stocker?
normally power goes to the indicator and then to the switch. if you are having power going to the switch, when it closes, it is a direct short and the fuse will take a hit, that indicator adds in resistance which drops current flow so the fuse holds up.
