Looking at the diagram you posted, your rear lights go through the tail light.
and would seem to be turn only as they only have 2 wires, 1 being ground.
Your bike's newer than mine and they started doing allot of electronic stuff through the ECM/TCCM.
The tail light controls things too I think.
You are correct. My turn signals only have two wires. And per the diagram the hot wires go to the hand controls. So there's no 12v constant. It seems the module is supplying a constant 6v to the running lights.

This would explain the dimmer running lights, then something tells the module to pass 12v as either brake or turn to be brighter.

I believe the module for your bike is a plug in style.
Thats exactly how it appears to work. And yes, I found the module under the seat. It just plugs in-line with the harness before the rear fender. Super easy.
