Ignition Switch - Intermittent Power Loss
Greetings, 1984 FXST. Bike cut off on me the other day. Replaced the battery and it starts now but there is something weird going on with the ignition switch (same problem even after installing a new one). When the switch is in the on position, the slightest vibration will cause the power to go out. I noticed if I jiggle the ignition switch, while remianing in the on position, the power turns off and on.

That's the old 6 pole ignition switch. Ohm test both of the switches for continuity for ignition and lights/ignition. Bypass the switch and hot wire it. That eliminates a bad ignition system and wires. Sounds like worn out switch contacts. Might be time to update to a 3 pole switch.
