Charge an iPhone with Battery Tender USB 2.1 Amp Charger Adapter?
Good afternoon!
I'm looking for charging options for my iPhone 12 while riding... will the battery tender 2.1 amp charger adapter provide sufficient power off of the battery tender lead to both operate and charge my phone?
To answer Goose's question, I have a '04 Ultra and a '10 Street Glide. I thought that the battery tender adapter would be easier than the cigarette lighter port and the connection with the battery tender adapter would be better than a vibrating cigarette lighter adapter...

Both of those bikes have plenty of amps to most accessories. Especially if the headlight is not an LED model.
You won't have any issue with the tender / usb as far as power goes.. The only issue I'd have is that that charger may need to be unplugged when then bike sits. The reason for the concern is that it may draw some current when connected on the tender cable. Tender cable is not switched like the cig lighter. Looking at the blurb, they don't state how much current it draws with USB unplugged. It could be in the microamps which would be OK. Milliamps and you want to disconnect it when not in use..
At 2.1 amps (10-12 watts), the Iphone12 will charge, but at a slower rate than using a 20 watt charger, which is the recommended wattage. The "fast charge" function needs a 20 watt charger from what I read.
Thanks guys! I'm not concerned about charging when not riding... I've found that the location finder being turned "on" for mapping or the Life 360 app sucks the battery. I just want to maintain the battery & charge the phone while riding with the location services "on".

Thank you!
I'd be more concerned about the unit discharging the battery if left connected up.
