Default SilverStar Headlight

Thinking of changing to a SilverStar bulb, anyone using one have a problem with them buring out because of vibration?

Note: This is only MY opinion.........

In my experience with Silverstar bulbs, they burn out a lot faster than an OEM bulb.
I have replaced the Silverstar bulbs that I put in my car 4 times now, in the past 3 years. I like the color and brightness of the light, but I don't like the fact that they burn out so fast.

There is one for motorcycles that is supposed to withstand shock better than the regular automotive ones. I had one in my Nightster for ~6months before I traded it in. No problems.

I used them in mine all last year, they have a 1yr warranty, the first one i put in the high beam went out after a month, called them and they had me mail that one to them and gave me a new one and 2 free. after the first one i road the rest of the year with no problems, think it was just a bad bulb.

That is good to know for when I get one for the FLHX. May do that soon. The wife noticed a big difference on the Nighty, so it's probably a good idea to install on the FLHX also.

The Silverstars draw more power (110/100 watts) compared to the stock 60/55. As a result they run much hotter and there have be reports of burned connector sockets/wiring with long term use.

More expensive, but a better choice IMO is a PIAA Bulb. Same wattage as the stock bulb but the light output of the Silverstar.

H4St (the motorcycle bulb) is a 55/60 bulb. There are silverstar ultras now that may be a higher wattage, but I had the H4ST.
