Possible short?

Possible short?
I'm dumbfounded...
Every so often I start the bike whether it's cold or warm and the high
beam light stays on while the headlight is off.
After flipping the hi beam switch on and off for a few minutes and
sometimes just on it's own, the indicator light will go out and the
headlight comes back on. Then it all works normal at that point.
I checked the headlight connection and wires and they are all good. The
headlight bulb is fine too.
I remember this used to happen after I washed the bike and the headlight
switch on the bars got wet.
But it haven't hosed it on the bars in a long time.
Do you think I should take a apart the housing on the bars and check all
connections?

If you wash something electrical enough, it will eventually corrode. Even if you stop washing it. If the headlight plug is okay (and they have a history of melting), you don't have many options left but to go fishing and I'd start at the switch.
