help 02 king
02 road king police. my bikes flashers flash 6 times when i turn on the ing. i found codes for bike but i dont understand them. code 43 flash says that it is for #1 cylnder not fire then code 16 flash says VSS bad. now speedo broke dont know what to do. can any one help me? thanks for your time

on the top of your transmission (right side) is the VSS sensor. check that plug, make sure it's secure. Remove the VSS from the transmission and check the sensor itself and clean if necessary.If you clean it and it works, odds are the problem will resurface, so just save yourself the time and replace it. Make sure when you put it back together you use dielelectric grease in the connector.
On the cylinder code, check your spark plug wires. You can always swap wires to see if the problem moves to the rear cylinder. Make sure you unplug each wire from both ends and move the entire wire.. If it does move from front to rear, replace your wires. If it doesn't, I would be looking at the coil itself.
either way in both cases, check all your wiring carefully before you go out and spend money on parts.
Electrical Diagnostics manual and Service manual are priceless in these situations.
