Default Cycle Electric charging systems

Rode my bike to work last week and when I was leaving to go home, it wouldn't crank. I checked the battery and it was very low in voltage. After charging the battery, I cranked the bike and put a meter on the battery and the voltage was dropping. Obviously a charging issue.

I installed a CE 50amp charging system a couple of years ago and was disappointed that it had quit working. I went to their website and there was a wealth of information about how to check the stator, any stator, to see if it was putting out. It covered all HD stators as well as CE stators. Very useful.

I saw that my stator was doing what it should and moved on to the regulator. As I suspected, no output.

I knew I had the receipt and when I found it, I was sad to see that the warranty period had recently expired. I called CE and talked to a nice lady, I wish I could remember her name, and started to explain my problem. She stopped me mid sentence and asked me what I thought the problem was. Of course, I said the regulator is bad. Without missing a beat, she said to "ship it back to us, that's not supposed to happen." I asked about the warranty being expired and she said to let them inspect it and not to worry about the warranty. If the unit is defective and it is not grossly out of warranty there would be no problem.

I boxed the regulator up and shipped it last Friday. It was delivered Tuesday and they called me around lunch time the same day. The guy I talked to, I forgot his name as well, explained what the problem was with the regulator and said they were shipping out a replacement that day.

Today is Thursday and my regulator arrived via UPS today. I will install it tomorrow.

I would just like to say thanks to the folks at Cycle Electric for standing by their products and giving such great after purchase care. Incidentally, I had researched the internet to find out where I could get a replacement and how much it would cost me if I had to resort to plan B. Every website I went to had the regulator on back order. How about that? They have even held units back "for just such an emergency," to quote ol' Foghorn Leghorn.

Also, since it has been raining so much here, I didn't miss many riding days on my bike. Bonus!

So, yeah, I'm plugging Cycle Electric. There products are the ones you want if you have charging system needs.

Wonderful folks to deal with in my experience. I called to ask a question about one of their systems and the guy who answered the phone didn't feel as if he was clear with his explanation. He said the owner would be there shortly and he would call me back to help me. Carl called me in just a few minutes and patiently answered my dumb question. Things like that and your story make it clear who I will always recommend for charging systems and components. I'm a cheap old fart, but I have learned that some things are worth the little extra money. When you unpack the box, seeing the quality of their product is impressive.

I'm glad to hear of this. I recently replaced my V/R with one of their units.
