Default Engine timing

TC88........Got lifters, pushrods, rocker shafts, cam plate assy.,and oil pump out.Pressed in new cams, changed inner bearings, replaced tensioner shoes, and waiting on an (updated) oil pump.Didn't keep track of any rotating order while removing everything. Now I'm going back together slowly.Looking at illustrations of the arrangements as far as getting the rear cam sprockets lined up/clocked,looks to me like the rear cylinder would be at TDC.How can I be sure/go about making sure the rear is in fact TDC-not only by the piston being all the way up,but the ignition in time with THAT?

Front cylinder should be on TDC. Flat on the crankshaft should be pointing at approximately the 11:00 position. There is a line on the front of the cam plate that the flat on the crank should be perpendicular to. Everything starts from there.

.......and the dots on the cam sprockets pointing at each other. That being said (and I do follow you),I want to be sure the ignition timing is going to be ok due to me previously turning engine. But wait, the crank sensor (I'm assuming magnets or some kind of "reluctor" material) goes around as well,so every time piston is up for that cyl.,theres ignition as well?Dual fire ignition? No "getting lost" in between strokes?

Ign timing is not adjustable unless you have a aftermarket Ign (carbed bike) or a fuel injection with a tuner. The bike uses the crank position sensor (and cam sensor depending on the year of the bike) for Ign timing. The Ign is a single fire (fires the plug when the cyl is on the compress stroke, the other cyl dose not get a wasted spark). The bike will know when to fire the Ign regardless of how many times you turn over the motor. Clear as mud? Hope it helps.

The rear cylinder is #1 and front is #2. The below photos show the sprocket alignment of each cylinder at TDC. First is rear cylinder at TDC and second is front cylinder at TDC.

Wide N Low 13 has you sorted out on ignition timing; not in play until time to tune.

The engine rotates clockwise when viewed from the cam side.
