Okay, after reading gobs of forums I think it's a safe bet that Chevy Small Block lifters are the same as Harley "C" lifters. Even the stock HT2148 (federal mogul) for $10 each at any parts store. My question is; has anyone actually run these stock chevy lifters for any amount of time? Are they lasting as long?
I love finding ways around the extra cost of parts, accessories, etc just because of the HD on the part or in the description.
Just to help someone searching this topic......
I went to the three big stores in our area, autozone, advance, and oreilly. The HT 2148 lifter at advance and oreilly were the same size as the lifter that came out of the bike however the cuts were a little different and the oil port was on the side instead of the front. I don't think it matters but the Autozone part number JB 2079 is the exact same as my Harley lifter. Looks identical, even the cup. Mic'd up the exact same too. For piece of mind I will go with Autozone. $10.99 compared to $37.99 each in a HD Box.
And do these lifters pump up the same as Harley, what is the oil pressure requirement and what is the travel when pumped from its bled down state. Harleys have .200" inch of lift or travel. Also are the axles the same diameter and wheel or roller the same width?

The wheel and axle look to be the same but I did not actually measure. If the wheel is a different width it cannot be + or - .005. Pump up, bleed down rate, and travel may be different but I read where someone took the two apart and they had the exact internals as well. Many people run limited lifters that have stops in them at .100 so they really only have .100 of travel. Not to mention some running solid lifters in super high performance stuff. I will post a follow up when I fire up the bike in the next couple weeks. Hope they work well.
I am running the Comp Cams 850-1 lifters in my twin cam as well as many other folks. They work great, and yes, they are the same used for small block LS roller motors. My thing would be to make sure you are using a QUALITY lifter.
