I'm a newb to the site and plan on doing a lot of reading but have a ? about this cam. Lookin at it for my 08 96", do you have to do any head work or is this a bolt in? I'll hang up and listen, preciate the help!
speaking from experience with that cam, yes the compression will have to be bumped up to 10.2 to have it perform correctly on that 96er. mine was a dead turd between 2000 to 3200 rpms than it came alive to the rev limiter. especially when riding two up cruising at 50 mph and twisting the throttle to pass a car! Hillside fix that problem for me.
If you are looking to do only cams, look at the Andrews 48's. I took Scott and Kirby's advice and put them in, and what a difference! They really pull well.
I have the Woods 555's in my stock 13 Limited. Stock heads, valve springs, bore and pistons at 9.6:1 CR flowing through V&H Power Duals and Monster Rounds with a PCV tuner. I am happy, with the results. I wanted a little more mid to top end grunt without changing the heads or pistons and I got it.

I can get the cam pretty cheap so that was my angle. I have true duals, PC & stage 1 already installed and wanted to bump it up a little w/o a lot of major work. We do a lot of traveling so wanted a little more get up that's all. I am one to red light race with guys too so I won't lie that I'd like to thump their 103's red to red! So if I do the cams which adj rods are best, alum or steel? S&S or Andrews?
I had aluminum Revtech adjustables with .600" lift springs and over time the end of the pushrod barrell started to get stress cracks, I now have S&S steel adjustables.

We use nothing but S&S 4130 steel pushrods here.
