Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
So I just did a FM 107 build, when it's freezing or below with a cold engine that's been sitting overnight my engine will chirp for a few seconds. Is this something I should look into. When it's warm out, no problem at all. I have manual releases and it seems like it comes from the left side of the bike
ex valve not sealing all the way,why are you starting it when its so cold? your not doing it any good, ill tell ya that
I don't start it just to start, I'm usually about to hop on it to ride. Like this morning when I was on my way to work. It was 29 degrees out, it chirped for a few seconds
Still haven't found the culprit, exhaust valves are completely dry, no oil found when I removed the exhaust. I didn't see an exhaust leak when testing with cigar smoke but I put my hand up near the front head and felt some air but then closer look and I have an oil leak coming from the rocker boxes. I think it was my fault, I went back in them and reused the gaskets. Can that cause a chirp? I got a James kit and will change them out

Are you sure it's not just a release that takes a few seconds to close?
