Default Idle Issue

99 Softail Custom with S&S carb.

Bike ran fine all last season then towards the end had an issue getting the bike to idle. Rode the bike for the first time this season and still have the idle issue.

Problem is once I close the enricher the bike does not idle after it has been warming up for a while. I have to stay on the throttle a little to keep it from stalling out.
But, it will idle after I have rode the bike for a while and its up there in running temperature.

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions on whats going on?

Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like the intermediate jet might be wrong. Open it up and see what's in there.

How do the plugs look?

Changed the plugs at the end of last season and they looked OK.

I'll pull it apart & see how the inside looks.

Thanks for the help.

If the bike wasn't ridden regularly and sat for extended periods without a fuel conditioner like MMO or Star, there could be some ethanol gook restricting the idle/low speed circuit.

Sounds to me to be a intake leak. Check it by running the engine and pray a little carb cleaner or something by the intake gasket adjacent to the heads. See if the RPMS go up on it's own. If the R's go up the you got a leak. It's common for them to leak. Or, like everyone says fuel delivery problem.
