Okay I have a 05 night train fxstb it's got the stock 88b motor with Thunderheader, big sucker, and mikuni42r
I'm gojng to change the cams and go with the Andrews 37's, and yes I do plan on porting the heads later probably big Boyz and also big bore
My question is... I'm going to put the SE hydraulic tensioner kit on the bike the PN is # 25284-11, does the normal chain drive 37s fit with this kit or do I need to get the 37n conversion cams? Thanks
No need for conversion cams but the 37 will be "soft" in a stock TC88; not enough compression. S&S 509 or Andrews 26 would be better choices. Early heads are limited to .510" lift but when you have your heads worked you can go for higher lift cams like S&S 570, TMan 590, etc.
or if you like the 37 check the 57 same timing with more lift
I missed that the OP bike is '05; he could run the 57 with no issues. However, '05 was the worst year for OEM heads; they don't flow well enough to take advantage of the higher lift. The 57s will also need more compression just as the 37s will. Both are the wrong cams for a stock TC88.

So the 26 is a better match for the tc88 I just don't want to lose that highway power being able to roll on 4th and 5th, also want a cam that is gojng to make the exhaust more pronounced

If you want roll on power in 4th and 5th, you don't want the 37/57 cams. Yes, the 26 would be a better choice but IMHO the S&S 509 would be a better fit.
