When the flywheel halve, slips on the crankpin, causing the sprocket shaft, and pinion shaft to run on different C/L's.
May not be that issue whatsoever.

Thanks Scott. I sure hope that's not the problem. I've been lucky so far, 58k trouble free miles until now
You should be able to check it through the front inspection cover of your primary cover if you have too much chain slack and can't adjust it out with the tensioner Drain your primary fluid take the cover off inspect the entire primary drive as per the manual, also take a good look at the compensator teeth and the teeth on the clutch basket should not be real pointy sharp but if worn will add to excessive slack. Also check the fit of the chain to the sprockets if you have too much play and can't adjust it out with a new tensioner you might have to replace chain and sprockets as well. Look in the inside of the primary cover for chain contact as well as worm edges on the chain. Easiest way out is just a tensioner and may be all you need. Just check it to the manual. If in doubt take it an indy. I only got 40K out of my tensioner.
Shoe on tensioner has three groves cut into it so it definitely has some wear. I called the dealer and he said that he would have to order the tensioner but did I have the updated compensator? I have not had one put on, so that would be a no. They are talking in the $800 range to replace it.
I have heard the compensator on later model twinkies were a noisy problem. I would think you could get everything you need for half the price and do it yourself. Cruise the internet or call a local indy. dealer will get more than you should pay. I would pm Mark at baker drive train. He will know prices and everything else question wise.. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/membe...rivetrain.html
