Default head surface

well, i was taking the springs out of the heads to put in upgraded ones and nicked the mating surface....wondering if i should be worried here. The heads have already been decked. It's a good nick, that damn spring compressor was giving me hell.

How about a picture with a ruler or something similar for comparison. the gasket surface is a very critical surface.

Did you lay the gasket on the cylinder head to see if the srcratch is in the sealing area?

Just use a stone on it and you'll be fine. If you're really scared use a dab of rtv, yamabond, etc. on any little imperfection left after you smooth it out.

thanks kirby! it was a combination of the compressor and user error. the springs didn't want to compress easy for some reason, but they did couldn't figure out if it was the angle i was going at or what

i used one of these
