Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
From what I hear, this is common with operating at highway speeds with a free flowing air filter. Where are the head breather holes vented to ? Back into the carb ? down to a canister or filter ?
Thanks for the help everyone. I need to change the oil now anyway so I will add a bit less... Which makes me a bit nervous So to get this right, when you say you run half a quart low, do you mean that you only put 3 quarts in instead of 3.5?
Also talked to Jamie at fuelmoto today and he said to fill so that oil is at the lower third point on the full hash mark section of the dip sick with the engine hot. Sound like what works for you?

Jamie is correct. You don't need to fill up to the "full" mark. Just make sure it's above the "add" mark.

ok, I know this may sound stupid but are you sure it's engine oil and not the oil used when the AC was cleaned and oiled?
I only ask because this happened to me and as I started to trouble shoot I realized the oil was red. I popped off the filter and realized I had probably over oiled it after cleaning and a fair bit was in between the back plate and filter gasket so at high cruising speeds the wind would push a few drops out.
