Having problems starting the bike. 1) Turn ignition on 2) lights all come on 3) Nothing happens when I try to start the bike. (no click or anything)
Have brand new battery and starter relay switch. What else should I look at before replacing starter? Is there a work around to get the starter to engage?
Don't exactly have enough cash for a new starter right now so any help would be greatly appreciated. So thanks in advance to any suggestions.
I've had starter problems of one sort or another over the years and *Sometimes* it helps to tap on the starter with a ball pean hammer, then try the starter again. If that works, I've been told it could be a solenoid on the starter itself, or a "low spot" on the starter winding, whatever that means. None of this might pertain, but if you're totally out of ideas...
you can also check to see if the small wire that plugs into the solenoid is getting 12 volts when ignition on and start button depressed. also check the ooops/simple things, run switch on, all grounds and cables clean and tight.
I did check the small stud on the solenoid: run switch on, no current when starter button pressed. Audible click from the breaker switch though. (single click, not a clickclickclick ).
boy I sound like a moron....
