Hello everyone, newbie here. Bought my first Harley a year ago, a 99' Fatboy with 2in2 radius V&H, 42 Mikuni Carb and a mild Cam. Rode it to Sturgis 75 this year from CA with no problems but noticed I had to down shift for passing power. So my question is if anyone knows the ID of the cam I pulled from my bike? Pictures below. How will this compare to a Andrews EV27? Also upgrading to Thunderheader.
If wanting to put all doubt aside to establish more power with that EV-27, remove .060" from the cylinder head gasket surface, and use a .030" head gasket.
Your buds will suspect you did MUCH more, than just simple work.

Ok, so if I will be taking off my heads to install .030!head gasket should I do anything to heads? Ive been going through forums and lots people posting best compression for EV27 is 9.5:1-9.8:1, I have stock heads in my 99 EVO Fatboy with 19535 miles on it, what can I do to achieve this? And should I do a valve job on them? Recomendations?. Oh, i got the Andrews EV27 and S&S quick Adj lifters.
Yes, as I mentioned, removal of .060" from the cylinder head gasket surface, and what we call our Super-Stock valve job.
You could also increase the intake size to 1.900" at the same time.
The .030" cylinder head gasket will also create a tighter squish/quench.
Must have built this, or an EV-3, or Wood 6 combination now over 100 times.
BTW, the fuel economy will go up, unless of course your right hand becomes heavier........hahaha.
