Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
After all the expense and frustration I tossed the HD dealer installed Stage IV engine kit and started over with a 113". The original 113" build included a Tman 662-1 cam set, Ron bench flowed the heads and decided the reliability vs numbers prompted incorporating the 635's. 635's are the oddest cams with their 243/270 duration.
S&S 4 5/8
SE 113"
S&S 635G
SE 58 w/ 5.3 (matched to HD's CNC)
RC heads

S&S duals
Preliminary dyno @ 125/130
The numbers are a little light but the response and tire spinning power down low is remarkable. We go back at 500 miles for the full tune and top numbers. I have just over 250 miles on the new motor. 4000 max RPM so far and really curious how much top a 243 duration 43 intake closing cam is going to make................okay just thinking out loud.
Yes the 635HO "G" for gear drive. The power off idle is effortless and finally the bike is a joy to ride around town. I am still getting used to the power. I don't know what its like over 4000 RPM. 2500-4000 RPM is instant even when it hooks up.
Doesn't an SE 113" 4.060" bore with 4 5/8" crank measure out to 120"?
Yes it does. Which explains the numbers; 125/130 is on the strong side for a 113" motor that hasn't been optimally tuned. Not saying impossible but it would be one in many.

We've seen 113"s at the 130/130 mark with a Wood 8.
There is a fellow on the CVO site that has one of our set ups.
He also runs a 30T trans sprocket on that.
RC Cycles certainly knows what they are doing.
Bob Lobenburg is one of the best tuners in the country, if I was asked that question.
We always reccomend them to our clients if they are even remotely close to them.
