I need a new pipe and I'm torn between spf and sawicki. I realize this isn't the exhaust section but probably the best place to get an answer from guys that have maybe dealt with both 2-1 pipes. My bike put out 129/147 with the thunderheader that's on it but something inside is broke and it's time for a new pipe. I believe both builders will make the pipe longer and will do stepped pipes, both are stainless and look to be of great quality. I like the way the sawicki pipe looks and sounds but I've heard some say that it may hurt the torque, I'd like to avoid that. Anyone worked with the spf? Any reason you like one over the other??
Yea that's probably the best option for performance but I'm not really thrilled about how big they are. Not really the look I like personally
The D&D is pretty heavy too. Might look at Drago's pipe but if you like the look and sound of the Sawicki, why not? With a 124" motor, losing a couple of foot pounds of TQ should not be an issue. You might also take a look at the new Fuel Moto "E" series mufflers. Basically a "universal" muffler that will fit many head pipes. If your t-header head pipe is OK, the "E" series muffler might be the ticket for torque.
Tried 2 or 3 different times to get any correspondence from Steve at SPF , no joy, so SPF is a non player in my book. Sawicki could be ok, I don't like that look but hey if you do thats all that matters. Isn't he in your area? If so I'd pop in and have a chat. I went with D&D Boarzilla from AMS, less than $900 shipped to your door. Another option would be Burns when they start shipping their big bore exhaust, $1600+iirc. Should be available now, call Vince @ Burns Stainless for more info.
