Default Harley ST120 Throttle LAG

Hello

I have a 2015 FLTRXS with the new ESP friendly 120ST motor. The bike has Stage 1 with a Arlen Ness High Flow Intake, and a Vance & Hines High Output ProPipe.

Since the motor is new, I am stilling running a break in MAP for download and I have a street tuner on it.

What I am noticing is that the bike has a throttle lag, a hesitation at lower rpms when you just start to get going. Feels like an old carburated system flooding up, but in this case it could be fuel starvation.

Any similar experiences, tips, pointer etc would really help.

Thanks

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that it's solely the MAP and the Street Tuner that's causing all your grief. Get the SE Pro Performance Super Tuner, use the tuner you have as a jiffystand puck, and have a tech Dyno the engine properly.

Just saw this thread.

I can't believe somebody, at a dealership, I assume, actually sold him a Street Tuner for a 120 motor. Yikes.

SO very true, any good flash tuner will be an improvement over that POS street tuner.

What'll REALLY cure that low end soggyness is a Wood 9B cam set.
Plug/play in those that snaps that engine to attention.

Thanks Guys,,,,,

It seems like getting a good dyno tune with the Supertuner instead of the Streettuner will be my first try.

Much appreciated.....Ride On....Rubber Side Down

The main thing to know about the Street Tuner is that it basically only allows you to do two things: Observe current settings, and load new base maps. You essentially cannot change, or "tune", anything major.

The SE Pro Super Tuner (or Super Tuner Pro, both are used) allows you or your dyno tech to change anything that needs to be changed to allow the bike to run as well as it can.

They did that to keep his warranty intact. Once he uses any other tuner to load a map and actually tune the bike his warranty for the 120ST is kaput. We can argue all day long about how much better off he is with the bike tuned properly with a full featured flash tuner but that is the reason.
